Johntay is a Jamaican-born, UK-raised rapper, songwriter, performer and creative entrepreneur bringing island soul, UK grit and real-life storytelling to every stage and record.

Born in Jamaica and raised in England, Johntay’s music is shaped by the rhythm, warmth and resilience of her Caribbean heritage alongside the raw honesty of her English upbringing. Since beginning her musical journey in 2017, she has developed a sound that moves between rap, hip-hop, dancehall and alternative influences—always grounded in powerful lyricism, memorable hooks and authentic lived experience.

Her music explores ambition, womanhood, motherhood, relationships, self-belief and overcoming life’s challenges. Johntay does not just write songs; she creates honest stories that give listeners something to feel, reflect on and connect with. Her voice is fearless, expressive and unapologetically her own.

As a live performer, Johntay has continued to build a growing presence across the UK. She has performed at events and venues including New Vic Theatre as support for Tones – A Hip Hop Opera, Six Towns Carnival Centenary, Foxlowe Arts Centre for Leek Arts Festival, Kwanzaa Collective UK, local Black History celebrations, festivals and showcases across Stoke-on-Trent, Leicester, Nottingham, London and beyond. She has also received support from BBC Introducing, including radio plays and live performance opportunities.

Known for her magnetic stage presence, Johntay has also stepped into hosting and event production. She has hosted and performed for Honey Box Live, including appearances at 2Funky House Café in Leicester, and is the founder and organiser behind Beats & Bars, a platform created to spotlight emerging artists, celebrate different sounds and bring people together through live music and culture.

Beyond her own artist career, Johntay is the founder of HMB Arts & Productions Ltd, her creative business focused on producing live events, artist showcases, music projects and creative workshops for young people and communities. Through HMB Arts & Productions, she is building opportunities for artists and helping to create spaces where creativity, confidence and culture can grow.

Johntay is currently working on a new EP, developing a body of music that reflects her growth as both an artist and a woman. With more releases, visuals, live performances and creative projects on the way, she is entering an exciting new chapter—one built on purpose, independence and a commitment to leaving a lasting impact.
